Electric Earth Concerts is delighted to present the boundary-bending Catalyst Quartet in two area performances. They will perform on Saturday, June 4th at 2 pm in a free, short, family-oriented program at Heberton Hall of the Public Library in Keene, New Hampshire. On Sunday, June 5th, at 4 pm, they will perform a full-length concert at the First Church in Jaffrey Center, New Hampshire. “Beautiful to watch, like a family in lively conversation at the dinner table: anticipating, interrupting, changing subjects” – NY Times. The Catalyst Quartet presents Viennese music by Haydn and Webern, West Coast mavericks John Cage and Terry Riley, plus their “CQ Minute” birthday tributes commissioned from 10 of their favorite composers. A co-commission of Electric Earth Concerts. Hailed by the New York Times at their Carnegie Hall debut as “invariably energetic and finely burnished…playing with earthy vigor,” Catalyst Quartet is comprised of top Laureates and alumni of the internationally acclaimed Sphinx Competition. Known for “rhythmic energy, polyphonic clarity and tight ensemble-playing,” the quartet has toured throughout the United States and abroad, including sold-out performances at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., at Chicago’s Harris Theater, Miami’s New World Center, and Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall. Quartet members have appeared as concerto soloists with the Bogata Filharmonica, the Sphinx Virtuosi, and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Admission is $30 and is payable online at www.electricearthconcerts.org or at the door. Middle and high school students may attend for free.
