PETERBOROUGH, N.H. — On Saturday, January 7th, at 3 p.m., the  famed Pihcintu Multinational Girls Choir, from Portland, Maine, returns to the Mariposa Museum for a concert. Since its founding in 2006, the chorus has offered more than 300 immigrant children from 40 countries a platform for making and sharing their voices in song while making friends, strengthening language skills, and having fun.

War-torn villages, bloodshed, refugee camps, famine, and political turmoil were devastating realities for many of the young singers before being embraced by the warmth, community, and healing music that Pihcintu provides.

The Pihcintu Choir has sung for hundreds of millions of people via The Today Show, NPR, Voice of America, the JFK Center for the Performing Arts, the UN, Al Jazeera, Univision, and in live concerts around the United States, performing at times with Bono and Yo Yo Ma.

The choir was founded by Con Fullam, a five-time Emmy-nominated television producer and multi-award-winning songwriter and performer.  The name Pihcintu is a Passamaquoddy word that means “when she sings her voice travels far.”

The concert at the Mariposa is free for museum members and $20 for non-members.
Tickets can be purchased via the Mariposa website Pihcintu Choir (ticketspice.com).
