The 33rd Annual MHS Walk for Animals - Celebrating Missed Holidays Together
The Walk Returns to the Keene Airport for an In-person Event
Monadnock Humane Society (MHS) is pleased to announce that its 33rd Annual Walk for Animals will take place as an in-person event (with social distancing and safety protocols in place) on Saturday, September 18, from 9 a.m.to 1 p.m. rain or shine (sign in begins at 9 a.m.). This year the Walk will return to the Keene Dillant-Hopkins Airport – a venue that is made possible by the kind support of the City of Keene and the Town of Swanzey. The theme for the 33rd Annual Walk for Animals is “Celebrating Missed Holidays Together” – a time to celebrate the special holidays that we missed during the past year due to the pandemic. Fun contests and activities have been created around the theme.
The Walk for Animals is a crowdfunding event. Before the Walk itself, animal lovers in the community ask family, friends, coworkers, colleagues – everyone they know – to sponsor them (all money raised goes towards the care of the homeless animals of our community and to support the programs and services provided by MHS). On Saturday, September 18th, everyone walks a maximum of three miles together on a scenic paved road at the airport that is accessible for all. Walkers may choose whatever distance they prefer (with or without a leashed dog). The “day of” program will feature a fun schedule of events – including Yappy Hour, a Vendor Village, a DJ with music, best holiday-themed costume contests, a pet photo booth, and more! Food and drinks will be available during the day from Mama McDonough’s restaurant. Official Walk t-shirts will also be available for purchase. New this year is a 5K Fun Run which will be held before the Walk on the airport road (note that pets are not allowed on the 5K Fun Run, but are most welcome for the Walk).

People may participate as individual walkers, or they can form a team (a minimum of 3 people is required). Awards and prizes for top fundraisers in team and individual categories will be announced on Facebook two weeks after the Walk for Animals. SPECIAL RAFFLE
Be sure to check out our Amazing Walk for Animals Basket Raffle - a wide array of over 20 beautiful holiday-theme and fun-theme baskets filled to the brim with great stuff (each worth approximately $250!). Raffle winners will be drawn the day of the Walk, however you do not have to be present to win. All of the proceeds will go toward the care of the homeless animals of MHS.
