Cheshire Medical Center recently issued the following announcement.

Expectant parents will prepare for birth by learning and practicing specific labor positions and techniques.

This class is taught by Farnum Rehabilitation physical therapists, and is perfect for expectant parents in their mid-second through third trimester. Participants will learn what a diastasis rectus abdominis is, how to check yourself and how to strengthen the abdominals safely. This class will dive further into the pelvic floor muscles to learn appropriate strengthening as well as stretching to reduce perineal trauma with delivery. We will also discuss comfort measures such as posture, body mechanics, belts and/or braces to reduce pain.

Classes are currently being held online, using Zoom. Participants will be sent class information and Zoom link before the class date. If you have any questions, please contact Janet Chamberlin at jchamberlin@cheshire-med.com.
