Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce: Saving Bank of Walpole Helps Support Now Photography Book and Exhibitions of Life in the Granite State

Rt589

Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on September 27.

Keene, NH -- Savings Bank of Walpole is proud to help sponsor NH Now, a collaborative effort between the New Hampshire Historical Society and the New Hampshire Society of Photographic Artists that portrays current life in New Hampshire through photography. The curated collection will be presented in a limited-edition book, available for purchase beginning October 1, as well as in a series of simultaneous exhibits at locations across the state starting on the same date. Locally, the Historical Society of Cheshire County will be hosting one of the exhibits.

“As a truly local bank, supporting local people, businesses and organizations in our communities is at the heart of our mission,” says Mark Bodin, President for Savings Bank of Walpole. “We’re proud to help sponsor NH Now – a special project that celebrates and helps support our local artists – and one that will also provide art and education opportunities here in Cheshire County and across the state.”

With more than 55 accomplished photographers involved, New Hampshire Artist Laureate Gary Samson curated the project, selecting from over 10,000 photographs submitted. The photographs depict all aspects of contemporary life in the state, from natural and built environments to current events and people going about their daily lives. The resulting photographic archive will be held in the permanent collections of the New Hampshire Historical Society and will be a powerful historical resource for future generations.

The limited-edition book, which will be available October 1, can be pre-purchased online from the New Hampshire Historical Society at www.nhhistory.org. Coordinating exhibitions will take place at the following eight locations throughout October:

·      Belknap Mill Society, Laconia

·      Davidow Center for Art + Design, Colby-Sawyer College, New London

·      New Hampshire Historical Society, Concord
