Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce: Effective Communication in the Workplace Series

Visual communication scaled

Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

Reduce workplace conflict, handle difficult conversations, and have more effective meetings.

Do difficult conversations feel hazardous? Do you feel like it is hard to find the words to say what you need to say? Do you avoid sharing, or receiving, hard to receive feedback? Effective Communication at Work includes being able to navigate these kinds of conversations. When we can talk about the hard stuff we strengthen our connections and create healthier places to work.

Join us and learn how to:

  • Listen empathically to encourage safe and positive workplace environments
  • Receive “hard to hear” statements without taking it personally
  • Make effective workplace requests (not hidden demands) to others
In this highly engaging and interactive (come prepared to participate, not just watch and listen) we will learn and practice simple, but not always easy to use, tools to enhance your communication skills at work and beyond. The series includes

April 13: Introduction to the basic elements of nonviolent communication (NVC) and effective workplace communication skills.

April 27:Learn how to Effectively handle difficult workplace conversations, increase awareness of emotions and manage them better.

May 11: Learn how to give and receive meaningful feedback and how to make requests to improve your workplace meetings.

May 25: Improve your communication skills by practicing real workplace scenarios, learning from each other, and exploring any lingering questions about effective workplace communication skills.

Each participant needs access to their own webcam and microphone (built-in to your device is fine). The series meets via Zoom, Tuesday mornings 9:00-10:30 am. If you cannot attend all dates but want to participate in the series, let us know and we can talk about options to “make up” a workshop.

Series Cost: $600 for a team of up to four people; $200/person for individuals and additional team members
