Cheshire Medical Center issued the following announcement on April 1.
Health and well-being have always been the focus of the Right This Way wellness challenge. However, this year mental health is front and center as the new well-being habit of 2022.
“We wanted to stress the importance of working on our mental health as well as our physical health, especially with the tremendous strain the COVID-19 pandemic has had on all of us” says Emily Alexander, Worksite Wellness Coordinator and Ambassador of Joyful Moments at the Center of Population Health, a department of Cheshire Medical Center.
“We want to make it easy for people to step-back, take a deep breath, and work on their mental health, and we think the best way to do this is through participating in daily mindful meditation. Throughout the 10 weeks of this program, we will be asking participants to practice being mindful each day, which will have a huge positive impact on their overall well-being” she adds.
In addition to being mindful, participants will track their physical activity, produce servings, hours of sleep, water intake, and nights they don’t snack after dinner, all on the RTW Mobile App. Completing each well-being habit will earn participants points that will tally against other Wellpowered organizations on a community-wide leaderboard.
The goal of Right This Way is for participants to trek from coast to coast on a digital tour of the United States, accompanied by the unofficial (self-appointed) mascot of Right This Way — Roamin' Penny, whose ever-present shenanigans are always a fan-favorite motivational tool! Along with bragging rights, Right This Way participants also receive fun weekly mini-challenges, giveaways, and tons of motivation from the RTW community via the Wellness Wall to help keep them motivated all summer long.
