Truffles, Small Mammals, and Healthy Forests

41

Could small mammals be providing a key ecological service as spreaders of fungal spores, much like bumblebees do with pollen? Join UNH postdoctoral researcher Ryan Stephens to learn about his work on the fascinating connection between small mammals, underground fungi, and forest health, and discover how tiny mammal scat just might be an essential ingredient for forest regeneration.

5:30 to 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Closed captioning will be available. To get the login details, please register here.

Presenter: Ryan Stephens is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of New Hampshire, where he studies the functional role that small mammals play in forested ecosystems. He received his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Wildlife at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, and his PhD in Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of New Hampshire.
