Town of Swanzey: South Winchester, West, And Swanzey Streets Reconstruction Project Update 2022 #1

Town of Swanzey issued the following announcement on March 28.

The Town of Swanzey has engaged B.U.R. Construction, LLC from Newport, N.H. to serve as the general contractor for this project to reconstruct South Winchester Street, West Street (east of Rt. 10) and Swanzey Street. Work will be resuming on April 4th until the project is complete this summer. The upcoming expected work schedule is as follows:

Monday April 4th – Friday April 15th

  • Sidewalk removal & replacement on South Winchester Street

This project is funded by the following sources:

  • A portion of the $3 million bond for road reconstruction projects approved by voters at the 2019 Town Meeting
  • The Road Reconstruction Expendable Trust Fund as appropriated to annually by the voters
  • The Municipal Transportation Capital Reserve Fund funded by $5 added to each motor vehicle registration
  • Federal funds from a $500,000 Grant under Northern Borders Regional Commission (35% Grant Funds; 65% Local Funds)
  • The West Swanzey Sidewalk Committee Fund
  • A grant from the Monadnock Alliance for Sustainable Transportation
